Calvary Baptist Church is truly a place you can call home. We are so excited about what God is doing in our little church, and we want you to be a part of it! Life can be hard. But each week at Calvary, hearts are encouraged and homes are strengthened through God's Word, the only book that has the answers for your life. We are a church made up of everyday people, just like yourself. God has changed our lives and given us purpose in this place, a place to call home! We hope to see you this Sunday!
Our History
In the late 1950's, a group of believers began meeting in a house on Michigan Street with a vision to start a Baptist Church in Caseville. In 1959, they incorporated as a church, acquired some property on Prospect Street and began construction on the basement of what is now the main auditorium of Calvary Baptist Church. The church met in the basement until the upstairs was finished in the late 1960's.
30 years later, in 1989, a youth pastor named Mike Goforth decided to revisit the Thumb, a place where he had come to fish with his dad as a Junior High boy. It was during this visit that Mike felt God's calling to go to Caseville and start a Baptist church, not knowing that one already existed on Prospect Street. Through a series of doors that only God could have opened, Mike and his family moved to Caseville in August of 1994. The following year he was voted in as the Pastor.
In 2019, we celebrated 60 years as a church and compiled the following video to celebrate God's faithfulness in our ministry:
